Guides Script for Aseprite

SmartGuides.lua is a simple script for Aseprite that just visualy adds a crosshair to your canvas.

What It Does:

• Adds horizontal and vertical guides that split the canvas evenly
• Automatically adjusts line thickness based on canvas size
• Lets you choose colors, transparency, and patterns 
• Saves preferences to a .json file (optional)

Installation:

1. Download the .lua file (and .json if you want preset defaults)
2. In Aseprite Go to File > Scripts > Open Scripts Folder
3. Past or Drop them into the Scripts folder
4.  In Aseprite F5 or Go to File > Scripts > Rescan Scripts Folder 

Usage:

1. Open or create a new sprite in Aseprite.
2. Go to File > Scripts > Smart Guides.
3. In the dialog:
   • Pick a color and adjust transparency
   • Select line style and base thickness
   • Toggle auto-hide if needed
4. Click Create – guides appear on a new layer!

Troubleshooting:

• If guides don’t appear, ensure you’re on the latest Aseprite version.
